Behind “SICKO MODE” lyrics by Travis Scott

SICKO MODE Travis Scott

[Intro: Drake]
Astro, yeah
Sun is down, freezin’ cold
That’s how we already know, winter’s here
My dawg would probably do it for a Louis belt
That’s just all he know, he don’t know nothin’ else
I tried to show ’em, yeah
I tried to show ’em, yeah, yeah

In this first paragraph Travis Scott want to say the following:

“Drake’s hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada usually starts to reach winter temperatures in the middle of November. Around November 20, 2017, meteorological reports registered negative Celsius temperatures there, long before the official start of winter on December 21.”

Drake also has a bulldog named Winter, that made a cameo appearance in the “SICKO MODE” music video. Drake could be saying he purchases Louis Vuitton merchandise for his pet.

Travis commented these bars on a 2017 Instagram photo for the Drake song “Signs.” Drake recorded “Signs” for a Louis Vuitton runway show.

The other part of the first verse: – Yeah, yeah, yeah
Goin’ on you with the pick and roll

“SICKO MODE” refers to Travis and Drake’s work ethic, showing they’re a cut above the competition by going into “sicko” or “beast” mode.

“Pick and roll” is a basketball term used to describe the action of a teammate setting a screen (blocking the defender’s lane), and then “rolling” off the defender to receive a pass from his teammate.

In the 4th verse, Travis Scott says:

Baby mama cover Forbes, got these other bitches shook

He refers to,

Kylie Jenner—the mother of Travis’ daughter Stormi—was featured on the cover of the August 2018 edition of Forbes magazine. The magazine issue, which covers 60 of the richest self-made women notes:

At 21, [Kylie] is set to be the youngest ever self-made billionaire.

Kylie landed #27 on the Forbes list. Thanks to her make up company Kylie Cosmetics, Kylie’s brand has sold over 630 million products making her $330 million in 2017. In addition to that, Kylie makes millions from TV programs like Keeping Up with the Kardashians as well as endorsements from products such as Puma and Pacsun.

In a nutshell, about this song:

“SICKO MODE” refers to Travis and Drake’s work ethic, showing they’re a cut above the competition by going into “sicko” or “beast” mode.

“Sicko,” or “6icko” (the 6 referring to Drake’s hometown Toronto), is a term derived from Drake’s vernacular. It refers to his friends, brought to the limelight by Golden State Warriors All-Star Kevin Durant, when he tweeted his reaction to Drake’s 2015 diss track, “Charged Up.”
